On May 10th, The Studio at Peterborough
(NH) opened. Long time employee and friend, Susan Golden,
helped make it all happen and is the heart and soul of the store. We
hope to do in Peterborough what we have done in Boston—to
become a part of the community and not just sell beautiful clothes.
We have fallen in love with the town that was Thornton Wilder's
inspiration for Our Town and welcome our new customers to The Studio.
A visit to Peterborough is well worth the trip. The heart of
the town is Depot Square, which has it all—wonderful shops, a fine
bookstore, really great food, and now The Studio.
The Studio has connected with thousands of women over the past
twenty-two years. Unfortunately during those years we've seen way
too much cancer. Last year it touched home and things will never be
quite the same. But there is a positive side to everything. It was
Sandy's idea to shoot the last post card with the hope that it would
ease her transition after treatment and at the same time help others.
If one picture is worth a thousand words this one certainly was. Your
response has been heart-warming and proof that when women get together
they are a powerful force. We have raised over $5,000 for the new
Women's Cancer Program Survivors Clinic at the Dana Farber.
Sandy's prognosis is excellent. She is feeling great and her new "do"
has gotten rave reviews. She thanks you for your kind words and encouragement
and we are all grateful for your support.
And finally, just when we thought our fifteen minutes of fame (Boston
Globe, Jan. 6th & Aug. 4th) were over, we're back in printthis
time nationally. Be sure to get a copy of the March, 2001 issue of Oprah's 'O' Magazine. The Studio and Oprah!!!
What a tripa full day photo shoot along with stylists, hairdressers
and make-up artists. Then 'O' assigned writer and novelist Abigail
Thomas (Safekeeping, Getting Over Tom) to tell our story.
She came, we talked, she shopped and we made a new friend.
A lot to celebrate!
Sandy, Marcie, Ilene & The Studio Staff
