 ode to Oprah

They told us August, and we told you,
much excitement, but little ado.

The months slowly passed it was 2002,
our hopes started to fade, our doubts only grew.

And then the phone rang, it was good news at last,
we're in the March issue, "O" what a blast.

 on a personal NOTE

When our post card was sent out seven months ago I remember feeling apprehensive. It was soon after my last chemo treatment and I needed all the help I could get to recover my old self. I knew it was a good thing to do but what I didn't know was what a positive effect it would have on my healing. Your response to the photograph of the three of us was so emotional, it was overwhelming. It gave me the opportunity to be an inspiration to other women and a chance to give back and feel part of this very powerful sisterhood. Thanks to all of you who contributed so generously to the Survivors Center and to my recovery.
with love, Sandy

 Dry Clean Only - NOT!

Ever pass up something you love because it said 'dry clean only'? Not any more. Our great new discovery "Cot'n Wash" is safe to use on all cotton blend stretch fabrics. This product gets The Studio's seal of approval (and Consumer Reports) $6.50.

 blitz for Glitz

Blitz is a non-aerosol, toxic-free, foam jewelry cleaner. We've tested it and it's won us over. Forget the sonic cleaners and Crest; one spritz and the diamonds sparkle. $6.00

 never on SUNDAY

We broke that rule on Sunday, December 2nd. We thank you all for making our first Holiday Bazaar a terrific success. We had a ball and can't wait to do it again next year.

 the brave BROWN BAG

Designer Charlotte McKeough was careful to preserve the paper shopping bag aesthetic in making her Brave Brown Bag. Each carryall is constructed by hand in cotton and treated with a special oil and wax glaze. It is lightweight, looks and folds like its classic paper ancestor, but has remarkable strength. How brave! Small size (9x13) $69; large size (12x15) $85.
