"LET'S GET REAL" (Spring 2003)

 news    news    News

Last season we decided on a new advertising campaign to show in images what we espouse in words. Our own Sandy and daughter Erika appeared in our first Boston Magazine ad in November, followed by customer Cathy and daughter Jane in December. Two new mother/daughter ads will appear in April and May.

The tag line that we've included in almost every ad and piece of literature we've produced:

      REAL LIFE, REAL CLOTHES

promotes a concept that has kept us in the business of dressing you, our customers, real women for 24 years.

On January 29th , an article caught our eye in Women's Wear Daily under this headline: "Spring Ads: Well Grounded." It talked about how creative directors of big name design houses are seeking "relevant images rather than surreal fashion shots, at a time when family and friendships are a high priority." Linda Greenblatt, the creative director at Liz Claiborne Inc., says "We all have an aspirational image, but what we are really striving to do is reinforce the personal connection with our consumer.

There's a move away from that perfect look and there has to be room for variety, for women of all sizes, ethnicities and ages. I think in the past we sort of only studied one woman and now we realize this is not the way." Well, bravo Seventh Avenue and Women's Wear Daily - but we beat you to it!
