“One of our earliest and wildest fantasies was that after ten years
in business we would be in Fortune magazine. Imagine our excitement when Fortune called.
It wasn’t a story they were after but a subscription. Ten years
later fortune knocked again, this time in the guise of Oprah’s O
Magazine.”… Marcie

For 25 years when the three of us go on buying trips majority rules -
it’s always been that way. In honor of our anniversary we have agreed
to disagree. Here’s where we stand alone:
| On a hot day, just a twist and a clip and you’re cool
and coiffed. Brushed silver or tortoise, $26 - $30.
(I’ve, already sold 12 . . . so there!) Sandy’s clip |

I flipped for these! Silver drops not only
from the stud, but from the fastener. I think everyone will have to have a
pair. $49 |
| A washable, distressed corduroy shirt from a new
unisex vendor, was so irresistible, that I |
| bought three for the men in my life and convinced
Sandy and Marcie to do the same. They’re fantastic, wouldn’t you want one for your
guy? (s-xl) $79 |

• When we like something…we can sell it. We once sold salad dressing.
• On a busy Saturday we had a customer who held everyone captive while she tap danced
in the middle of the store…she was 88 years old!
• What women’s clothing store had a saleswoman who went on to receive the
Pulitzer Prize in literature? We did! Jhumpa Lahiri won for
Interpreter of Maladies, a wonderful collection of short stories.
• How about the time a customer’s dog took down a rack of clothes. Poor thing
buried under a pile of dresses.
• And now for another Studio animal story…one way or another Marcie insisted this
story be in the newsletter….
Joey Goes to The Studio
by Marcie Brawer |
Once upon a time a man came to The Studio looking to buy a unisex
Australian Outback raincoat we sold at the time. He told us that he worked for a kids’ sneaker company,
Roo’s. He was on a promotional tour of local hospitals giving out sneakers with his baby kangaroo,
Joey. Since Joey was in our new friend’s car, we excitedly invited him up. In walked what
could only be described as a
giant rat raised on rear legs. He hopped once or twice and then they left - the man with his
Outback, Joey with a few parting gifts on the carpet.
